Kati asked me to make her a shelf to put a her collectables and knick knacks on up in her office area. I went out to the lumber store, picked up some select pine for this job and decided that I was going to try to build a french cleat. I got some 8′ x 6″ x 1″ lumber for the top shelf, and a piece of 8′ x 4″ x 1″ for the cleat. I used a router to make a nice edge on the shelf and stained it with some dark walnut stain. It turned out pretty nice and she’s asked me to be build her another, smaller, shelf to go under this one. I haven’t done that yet, but when I do, it’ll probably be another project video.
