Note: Adding Apple Cider vinegar to the jar is great bait!
This project was inspired by SouthernGinger’s last Carpenter Bee Trap project video. I’ve seen these at my local hardware store selling for 20-30$ and the carpenter bees have started to come out in full force. So, I started to wonder if there was a different way to make the same trap and came up with this idea of using a 4×4 pine post. I originally thought it’d be nice if it was about 6 inches high, but that wasn’t going to work with my drill and forstner bits. So I trimmed everything down to 4 inches high, essentially making a bunch of 4x4x4 blocks. I ended up making about 6 of these suckers, but it’s been raining the past few days and the carpenter bees have been hiding. I’ve placed them around areas that I’ve seen them, as soon as I catch some, I’ll post a picture to Instagram.
What I Used:
4×4 Pine
Drill (Hitachi)
Miter Saw (Hitachi 10″)
Forstner Bits (they had some trouble, but this is the brand I have)
1.5″ Deck Screws
Jars w/ Lids (I have a bunch of these)
